Three young Peruvians, born in extremely poor places, begin to study music thanks to a community project promoted by the tenor Juan Diego Flórez, one of the great talents of opera today. The film follows the lives of Alondra, Diego and Imanol over a three-year period to reveal how, little by little, music changes their destinies by broadening their horizons and affording them the opportunity to dream a better future for themselves and their families.

Enjoying unique access to Flórez, his family and his entourage, the film also delves in his biography to find the roots of his commitment to the project, and documents his struggle to keep it afloat by bridging the gap between the affluent world of opera and the dusty slums where the kids live.

Thus, SINFONÍA captures the capacity of music education to empower people and transform society.
